A palace-like restaurant in Namwon, Korea
Namwon, North Jeolla Province, is the village of Chunhyangjeon. The entire village is filled with content from the novel "Chunhyangjeon." This is the story of a restaurant that left a lasting impression on me here.
Namwon Tofu Village is a tofu specialty restaurant near Chunhyang Theme Park (Chunhyang Culture and Arts Center) in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do. It is a wooden building renovated from a traditional Korean house, famous for its garden, creating a pleasant atmosphere and a great place to relax, but as you can see in the photo below, it resembles a massive palace.
The interior also has colorful lighting, so it seems like I'm full even without eating.
However, surprisingly, the price is not very high. The home-style set meal in the picture below costs 14,000 won, which is about 1,400 yen in Japanese yen.

Features and menu
It is often praised for its savory flavor and strong aroma, as it uses tofu made fresh on the same day. It is popular as a health food rich in plant-based protein. The table setting is neat and the side dishes are generous, and it comes with dolsot rice, nurungji (scorched rice), and scorched rice water.
Representative menu items: Tofu Village Set Menu, Tofu and Mushroom Hot Pot, Cauldron Set Menu, Soft Tofu Set Menu, etc.
Price range: Famous for its affordable prices (e.g., around ₩9,000 for a soft tofu set meal, ₩14,000 for a set meal, and ₩18,000 for a hot pot). It has been selected as a good price shop, so it has good value for money.
In the reviews of the visit, the tofu is thick and savory, and the variety and quantity of side dishes are high, leading to high satisfaction. It is often recommended for family travelers or group gatherings, and the traditional Korean house atmosphere and garden are attractive.
It is located in a perfect spot to visit along with Chunhyang Theme Park or Gwanghalluwon sightseeing, making it worth a visit if you are planning a trip to Namwon. The taste is of mid-to-upper quality, but I highly recommend it because the restaurant has a beautiful exterior.
